Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the Chairs of the Organizing Committee, we welcome you to Athens, where the Symposium of the “Advances and Perspectives in Gastrointestinal Oncology” will take place. We are delighted to host a scientific event in which some of the most authoritative international experts are going to discuss important advances of gastrointestinal oncology and to interact with the audience. The latter is what this event is all about: interaction between colleagues, in a scientific environment that evolves at an ever accelerating pace. Our concept regarding neoplasia both in terms of biology and clinical practice is evolving and our armamentarium against cancer is improving and becoming more effective, personalized and costly, while at the same time our patients demand, and deserve, effective and rational therapies. We are looking forward to discuss on recent scientific breakthroughs in the field of gastrointestinal oncology and examine strategies for overcoming the problems we are facing.
Hopefully, international ventures as such will provide inspiration and make this experience as valuable as possible for all.

Best wishes for a fruitful meeting,

On Behalf of the Symposium Chairs
